Small Animals

When people think of wildlife in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, most naturally think of the larger mammals. Smaller mammals, however, contribute significantly to the ecosystem as well. Otters feed on nutritious fish found in the creeks, while pika and marmots manage the vegetation high in the peaks, just to name a few.
